What is Bootstrap Tuoring?
BOOTSTRAP is an after school tutoring program which allows a student an opportunity to experience success through individualized instruction.

The origin of the term BOOTSTRAP comes from the expression "pulling" yourself up by your own BOOTSTRAP; this means, getting ahead in life on your own. Even though we need the help of others, the implications are to become empowered in order to be as independent as possible. The Academic Achievement Program is a helping hand toward this end.

In today's society many of our young people have lost hope. The climate in today's society does not always lend itself to positive thinking: war, violence, homelessness, parentless children, poor educational conditions, the control over unfair politics, the perverseness displayed in movies and music, and the media in general. Without knowing it, children respond to the environment with negative attitudes.

The Academic Achievement Program hopes to enhance self-esteem by improving skills in reading and math.

The teachers in AAP will have an ongoing communication with parents and teachers. These children need help of the entire village: parents, teachers, community, and peers.

BOOTSTRAP proposes to help as many students as possible. It is the program's dream that as students begin to feel better about themselves, they will step away from the negative and focus more on the positive and begin to pull themselves up by whatever positive means necessary.
