  1. Reporting a Student Absent

  2. A parent or legal guardian is required to report their child absent from school regardless of the reason for the absence.

    To report an absence:
    1. Dial 773-535-2035
    2. Press 3333
    3. Be prepared to enter the following information:
      • Child's Name
      • Division Number
      • Date of Absence
      • Reason for Absence
      • Your Name and Relation to Student
      • A Number where you can be reached after 9:00 am.

  3. Early Dismissal Policy

  4. Students may never leave school for any reason without an 'Early Dismissal' obtained from the attendance office, which is located in room 108.

    Students must present a written request to be excused from classes for the remainder of their academics program by either a parent/ guardian or classroom teacher, and bring it to the attendance office immediately.

    What happens when a student becomes ill while attending school?
    1. Students should come to the Attendance Office with a pass from their classroom teacher.
    2. A parent/guardian will be notified of the child’s illness.
    3. A parent/guardian must pick up the student.
    4. If a student cannot be picked up, the student must remain in school.
    5. If a student that drives to school becomes ill, a parent must pick up that student.
    6. A parent must have two forms of identification to pick up a student.
    7. If a parent/guardian or someone listed under the child’s emergency. information can’t be reached, the student will have to stay in school.

    What happens if a student is injured?
    1. The same procedures as if a student is ill.
    2. If a student is injured and no one cant be reached, the student will be sent to the hospital by ambulance.

    When will missing class due to illness or injury be considered a cut?
    1. If a student misses an entire class period because of an illness without talking to the class teacher, it will be considered a cut.

  5. Uniform Policy

  6. Students are expected to dress and groom themselves neatly and modestly in clothes suitable for school. Clothing which is obscene, suggestive, drug related, or which indicates membership in a gang or a non-school related club is not allowed.

    Please note the following:

    • No hats may be worn in the building.
    • Jackets and book bags are not allowed in the classroom.
    • Transparent shirts, jogging pants or shorts are not allowed.

    1. Shirts:

    2. Shirts must be white, long or short sleeved, covering the shoulder. Any other visible color will invalidate them, including logos.

      Shirts must be buttoned, and cannot be open with another color showing. All shirts worn under the shirt must be white and show only at the neck. The undershirt’s sleeves and/or hem cannot extend past the white shirt. Shirts must cover the midriff, and cannot be worn inside out or backwards. Tank tops are not allowed. Sweaters, sweatshirts, etc., must be solid white. Any other color will invalidate them. Any garment with a hood is not allowed.
      • Gym shirts can only be worn in gym class.
      • All Bogan shirts given out by the school are allowed.
      • Active team members may wear their team shirts on game days.

    3. Pants/Skirts/Shorts:

    4. Pants must be entirely dark black. Any other visible color will invalidate them, including logos.

      They must have no contrasting stitching. (Stitching must be black.) Also, colored logos are not allowed. Shorts and skirts must be finger tip length; this includes the split in a skirt. Cotton sweatpants are not allowed. Pants must be worn above the hip, and cannot have holes in them. Sweat shorts, cutoffs, spandex/lycra shorts and pants are not acceptable at any time.

    6. Shoes, whether they are dress shoes or gym shoes, must be solid black, including the soles and laces. Any other color will invalidate them, including logos.

    7. Hair/Accessories:

    8. Wild, punk rock or distracting hair-dos will not be allowed. No combs or picks may extend from pockets or hair. No hair coverings may be worn, including hats, hairnets and scarves. No large necklaces and medallions may be worn outside of shirts. Young men may not wear anything in their ears, whether it be earrings, strings or sticks. Girls must wear an earring in each ear, if at all. No student is allowed to wear any other type of visible body piercing. Students may not wear band aids on ears or face to cover piecing or earrings.

    9. ID Cards:

    10. ALL STUDENTS ATTENDING BOGAN ARE REQUIRED TO WEAR A STUDENT IDENTIFICATION CARD WITH A BOGAN LANYARD.

      This card remains the property of Bogan computer Technical High School, and must be surrendered to any staff member when requested. Failure to surrender an ID will result in an out of school suspension. The card will include a photograph of the student and will indicate the advisory, lunch period, starting period, ending period, and class schedule. It will also include a bar code for computer transmission of the student’s identification number. Any student who alters the ID card is subject to out of school suspension, and must purchase a new card. A replacement ID is $5.00.

      Students who forget their ID cards must purchase a temporary ID card for $1.00. After five temporary ID cards, a parent/guardian is notified, and the student must purchase a new ID.

  7. Vehicle Registration

  8. Each student who drives a vehicle to school must register the car and have a sticker displayed in the front window. Student vehicle registration permits can be obtained from the Discipline Office.

    The following rules must be followed:
    1. Freshman and sophomore students are forbidden to ride or drive a car to school.
    2. Only juniors and seniors may drive their registered vehicles to school.
    3. All students must register their vehicles at the beginning of each year.
    4. All students must park in the student parking lot.
    5. At no time may students drive cars through the faculty/teachers parking lot.
    6. Students may not be in cars during the day.
    7. Students park at their own risk. The school is not responsible for any damage done to a students car.
